How does Noxmare turn companion hits into poison pressure?
Use Noxmare alongside an active Hatchmon squad so both your weapon hits and companion hits contribute poison marks. Reaching nine marks triggers a burst. Keep firing from a position where you can dodge, and restore useful companions during safe openings; the setup depends on continued attacks rather than simply owning eggs or a poison-labelled item.
The weapon mechanic has two parts worth tracking:
| Part of the setup | Contribution | What to keep working |
|---|---|---|
| Noxmare attacks | Add poison marks through hits | Aim and maintain useful firing positions |
| Hatchmon attacks | Can add marks through the weapon interaction | Keep companions active |
| Nine-mark threshold | Triggers the poison burst | Continue the hit-based interaction |
| Resource affix | Adds its stated weapon damage contribution | Read rarity, resource count, and cap |
The burst threshold and the resource damage affix are separate benefits. Improving one does not remove the need to manage the other.
Use the Hatchmon overview if you need the hatching and awakening basics before planning the weapon build.
How much does the Hatchmon damage affix contribute?
Read the current rarity of Weapon Damage per Hatchmon before judging a change to the squad. The built-in Normal version gives three percent per companion up to a thirty-percent contribution. Higher rarity versions have different rates and caps, so compare the actual affix instead of applying one fixed multiplier to every Noxmare you find.
The current affix values are:
| Rarity of this affix | Weapon damage per Hatchmon | Stated cap |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | +3% | +30% |
| Rare | +4% | +50% |
| Epic | +6% | +200% |
| Legendary | +10% | No cap specified for this affix |
For the Normal version, five counted companions give 5 × 3% = 15% through this affix. Ten reach its 30% cap. An eleventh does not increase that capped contribution, although another companion can still add its own attacks or utility. These examples describe the affix contribution, not final damage after every modifier.
Check the affix again after a Forge change. The weapon upgrade guide explains how resource-dependent bonuses affect equipment decisions.
Which Agent and recovery tools fit this setup?
Choose an Agent and recovery tools that help companions keep attacking while you remain comfortable with movement. Elise provides Kiddy from the start, while Chirpie offers awakening through a fusion. Your own touch can also recover a dazed companion when the route is safe, so avoid treating a missing support item as a reason the build cannot work.
| Recovery option | How to obtain or use it | Planning value |
|---|---|---|
| Manual awakening | Touch a dazed Hatchmon | Useful when the companion is safely reachable |
| Kiddy | Elise’s starting companion | Nearby awakening assistance |
| Chirpie | Fuse 2 Purply and 2 Limey | Combat awakening assistance |
| Shark Grenade | Your explosions awaken dazed companions | Fits a setup that already uses controlled explosions |
Kiddy and Chirpie have cooldowns on their recovery actions; they do not make every dazed companion return immediately. The Elise guide explains Kiddy’s recovery rhythm and the character unlock.
How should you choose hatching and resource tools?
Pick a hatching tool whose trigger fits actions you already need to perform, then preserve enough resources to use it. Lightbulb spends crystals for an immediate hatch, while other items add progress through kills, obstacle destruction, or crystal-consuming Curio use. Read those triggers before spending, and inspect your Relic if eggs are not developing as expected.
| Available tool | Relevant effect | Check before committing |
|---|---|---|
| Godfather Disc | Enemy kills can add hatching progress | Keep clearing enemies with a reliable attack |
| Replica Circlet | Crystal-consuming Curio use adds progress, with a cooldown | Use a Curio that serves a purpose beyond spending crystals |
| Lightbulb | Uses 2 crystals to hatch an egg | Keep an egg and enough crystals available |
| Snake Hairpin | Hatching fills crystal containers; grants an additional container | Read its trigger cooldown before relying on repeated activations |
| Eternal Stone | Prevents eggs from hatching | Check whether its trade-off matches your goal |
Can you plan around Lightbulb and Snake Hairpin?
The effects complement each other: one spends crystals to hatch an egg, and the other restores crystals when a hatch occurs. Snake Hairpin’s trigger has a 3-second cooldown, so read its timing before treating rapid repeated uses as cost-free.
Keep the ordinary crystal budget workable even when both appear. You still need eggs and safe opportunities to use the equipped Curio.
Agapeism is a matching Faith when gaining and hatching eggs already serves your plan. The Faith guide covers its progress and Temple without treating Faith selection as an automatic hatch.
When is a companion fusion worth changing the squad?
Choose a fusion when its movement, recovery, or attack benefit addresses a current limitation, then inspect the resulting squad and weapon affix condition. Chirpie supplies recovery and Cloudie adds a jump, so the better option depends on the fight you are preparing for. Companion quantity alone does not describe all the useful effects in the lineup.
| Problem during the run | Fusion benefit to consider | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Companions repeatedly become dazed | Chirpie’s awakening support | 2 Purply + 2 Limey |
| Your firing position needs more jump flexibility | Cloudie’s extra jump | 3 Purply + 1 Limey |
| You want additional fire attacks | Torchie’s attack support | 4 Pinky |
The fusion entries show the required combinations. Check your own damage contribution, movement, and companion activity after a lineup change rather than choosing solely from a recipe name.
How do you prepare this build for a boss room?
Prepare a firing position you can maintain, enough resources for your chosen support Curio, and a way to recover useful companions without forcing a dangerous crossing. Continue watching the boss even when poison and companion effects fill the screen. Noxmare adds another damage interaction, but incoming attacks still determine when you should move or stop firing.
What should you troubleshoot after a difficult fight?
- If companions stayed dazed, improve recovery opportunities or support.
- If reaching them caused damage, change your movement decision first.
- If the Curio could not activate, review the crystal budget.
- If an affix contributed less than expected, reread its resource, rarity, and cap.
Use the boss preparation guide for the encounter, or the Dark Aphrodite route if that is your companion-count goal for the run.
